X2TG Tangmere: - The South Coast of England was once the United Kingdom’s front line of air defence. One of the most famous airfields in Fighter Command was Royal Air force Tangmere, the station played a leading role in the Battle of Britain and later spearheaded the allied counter attack in northern France. Many famous names were associated with Tangmere including the legendary legless ace Sir Douglas Bader. After WW 2, it was upgraded with tarmac runways and concrete blast shelters for the next generation of jet fighters
