ENBseries is a modification that adds bloom and other visual control values to FSX by replacing the d3d9.dll with a modified version that is placed within your main FSX directory, this bypasses the d3d9.dll that resides in Windows and is part of the DirectX feature set. This is combined with a config file that controls the settings you can alter by changing numerical values within the file.
The default FSX bloom looks nice but has a massive impact on the frame rate, whereas ENBseries has little or no affect, unless you start using some advanced features such as depth of field.
Below is a link to the ENBseries mod.... when Unzipped you will find three files: 'd3d9.dll', 'enbseries' configuration settings and a 'manual' that explains all the parameters found in the config file.
Place the 'd3d9.dll' and 'enbseries' files in you main FSX directory, and it will simply work the next time you run the simulator. The values set in the config file are the ones I typically use, but you can experiment and change things to suit your own tastes.
If you wish to stop using it simply remove the two files and your sim will be returned to its original state.
You can turn ENB on/off in-game by using SHIFT+F12
You can edit the config file while the sim is running and see the results... you may need to switch between fullscreen and windowed to trigger the changes.
Note: this modifies DirectX9 calls and therefore will not work in DirectX10 preview mode.
